About Kate Coldrick

Kate Coldrick is a writer, educator, and photographer based in Woodbury, Devon, where much of her work is rooted in the landscapes and communities of East Devon. Her writing and photography move between learning and landscape – between the classroom and the quiet field – exploring how attention, belonging, and understanding take shape in words, voices, and places.

She is known for her work in inclusive and neurodiversity-informed education, creating resources and reflective writing on literacy, communication, and support for diverse learners at katecoldrick.com. Through the Neurodiversity Learning Support Consultancy (NLSC), she helps families and schools design practical, strength-based learning routines.

Her wider writing unfolds across several interconnected projects:

  • On the Skyline – creative and reflective writing that re-imagines familiar stories and voices.
  • Elswyth – a photo journal of stillness, light, and endurance.
  • Kate Coldrick’s Book Corner – a nostalgic look at the children’s picture books that shaped a love of reading, revisiting well-worn pages, memories, and the illustrations that brought them to life.
  • Substack – essays connecting education, attention, and the art of learning.

Kate’s photography has been recognised locally: her image of Exeter Quay was featured in RGB Building Supplies’ 2020 charity calendar, which raised over £3,000 for the Devon & Cornwall Air Ambulance, and two of her photographs of Woodbury Common were included in The Heaths and Me community album by the Pebblebed Heaths Trust (2020).

Across these spaces, Kate brings the same focus to words and images: a way of holding space for what endures, and of seeing learning and landscape as parts of the same conversation.
